The Stoffel has a history that goes back over a hundred years. Since the house was built by Beat Stoffel in 1919, the building initially housed his family. After the Second World War it became a girls' boarding school and was converted into a hotel in 1971. Here are pictures from the various chapters.

Inside
The hosts
Matthias Eisenmann-Schubert and Markus Giger are both trained restaurant and hotel professionals. They had already worked in the hospitality industry for many years in managerial positions in various countries when they were able to fulfill their long-held dream of owning their own hotel in 2014. Today you can look back on a ten-year success story, which was made possible thanks to great personal commitment, enthusiasm and a loyal and dedicated team.
Kitchen and chefs
Head chef Thomas Krättli and junior chef Jaroslav Andrejcik tirelessly ensure the physical well-being of our guests. With passion and creativity, day after day they prepare, fry, cook and bake the delicious dishes that are loved and regularly applauded by the restaurant public.
Transforming a dining room into a restaurant
Under the leadership of the renowned Chur architect Tilla Theus, the outdated dining room was completely renovated in autumn 2015. The pine wood that is present throughout the house and characterizes the ambience was also used for the new restaurant. A new interpretation of the directly adjacent Stoffelstube was created. What remains is the spacious window front, which offers a unique view of the Arosa mountains.
House Stoffel 1919
The house in which the hotel operates today was built by the important Swiss textile producer Beat Stoffel. He was born in St. Gallen in 1863. He came to Arosa for the first time in 1919, was enthusiastic about this place and had a stately house built that same year, which he called 'Huus Stoffel' (House Stoffel). Until his death in 1937, he lived there with his family in the winter months and ran his global company from there. You can read more about this under the menu item 'House Stoffel' on this website.
House Stoffel becomes BELRI
From 1947 to 1971, the Stoffel served as a finishing school for girls under the name BELRI. These private schools were attended by young women from good families who were supposed to be prepared for life in upper society. You can read more about this under the menu item 'Haus Stoffel' on this website.
